Handling all Criminal Defense cases in Oceanside California
Oceanside is the third largest city behind the city of San Diego and Chula Vista. It is a city that is known for its beaches and the famous Oceanside pier. The crime rates in Oceanside are pretty low compared to some other cities that surround it. If in Oceanside there is a 1 in 266 chance that you will be a victim of a violent crime.
There is a small jail in Oceanside that works as a sub station but the main jail is the Vista County Jail, which is a part of the Vista County Courthouse. When entering the complex the jail is located at the back of the court complex, behind the traffic court. Visitors are able to see inmates at pre-arranged times through the sheriff’s website. If someone is booked into the vista jail that means that it is highly likely that they are going to be arraigned in the Vista Courthouse. Although Oceanside has a larger population than Vista, that is where the main courthouse is located for the north county area.
Criminal cases including theft crimes, drug crimes, violent crimes, sex crimes, expungements and more are all heard in this courthouse. Felonies and misdemeanors generally start in Department 14 and then move to a different department after the arraignment. Felonies will go to Department 5 for what is called a readiness conference and misdemeanors will go to Department 1.
